Leadership Team

Dear Panther Family,

I am honored to serve as your principal at Merrifield Elementary School. I come to you with over 25 years of experience at multiple levels, but I can honestly say being an elementary principal is the best job ever.

As your instructional leader, I bear the responsibility of making sure that all children reach their optimal learning potential and failure is NOT an option. Our entire faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that student achievement is our top priority and we will do whatever it takes to be successful; however, we cannot do this without you. We need parents and community members to be allies with us and we will be intentional about creating this partnership for all students to benefit and grow. In addition, we will also put a major emphasis on social and emotional learning because now is the time to ensure that all students feel loved, needed, and necessary as a part of the school community whether it is through virtual learning or in-person learning.

As we partner together to provide a superior education for your child, please remember that every decision we make will be in your child’s best interest. I will be your child’s biggest advocate and I will work hard to ensure that all children and families at Merrifield Elementary School are valued, informed, inspired, empowered, and welcomed. We will also celebrate diversity because our differences make us special and that is worth celebrating.

Working together, we will make Merrifield Elementary School the premier school in Duncanville ISD.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tanya B. Jones
Principal

Greetings Merrifield Panther Family,

I am the proud Assistant Principal of this amazing school! I come to you with both experience and knowledge. Through Dallas Baptist University (DBU), I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and a Master’s of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Following my education at DBU, I received my principal certification from Lamar University. I am currently a doctoral student at Arkansas State University.

After 10 years in education, 5 of those years being a successful classroom teacher, leader of professional development, and a chair member on several Literacy Cadres, I proudly walk into this role as one of your instructional leaders.

My educational philosophy is in the belief that all can learn through innovative, effective instruction, and no matter what we do, we are all servant-learners. This servanthood can transform our beliefs and ideology to be successful citizens in every community

It was the great, late Rita Pierson who states that, "Every child deserves a Champion!" Here at MES, we strive to ensure that the educators on our campus are true CHAMPIONS! We believe in excellence! As our daily creed states, YOU MATTER at MES!

Proudly,

Mr. Jacoby Ivery, M.ED
